1st wash

Braiding wasn't bad but banding was a bit much so I opted out, oops! :-o I didn't have any real problems because of it though. When I go for my follow-up I'll ask my consultant if it is really that necessary for me to band if I've already braided it. I really didn't like the way my hair felt after using the SL shampoo, it still felt dirty, dry and dirty. I'll keep using it though at least until my sample bottle is finished and then I may switch to another shampoo now that I know I can. Here are the pics, its official I really don't like my hair in the braid out at this length and stage but the braid out makes for a mean pin up style. I'm trying to leave my hair alone in response to advice from various people but its hard. I hate wearing my hair the same way every day but I'm seriously going to try because I don't want to slow the maturation of my locks in anyway.

Well... your 1st wash came out much better than mine. I tried the braiding and banding but my hair was too frizzy and I felt like I was pulling my hair too tightly to achieve a decent braid (i.e. - one that keeps the hair in place, rather than coming out in every direction). I will also ask my consultant about this when I see her for my follow-up on Saturday. Looking good. One thing different about me, I don't mind wearing my hair exactly the same at this length. I'm definitely all for the freestlye look. Plus my hair usually ends up in all kinds of directions. lol.

BTW: TWA= teeny weeny afro. lol. At least that's what I learned it meant!

lol oooooohhhhhh! My consultant told me that if I didn't want to braid it that I could just put my hair in little bundles and band, maybe you should try that.

Hey Kay, have you tried running sea breeze through your hair? The slx shampoo doesn't lather up that good to me and it also made my hair still feel dirty. I like my locks squeaky clean...lol!

Hey Kay, it looks like your consultant did a great job. Have you tried doing rollersets to change up your look? I did those from day 1 and don't think it delayed my locking process. I would spritz lightly with plain water and set it on SoftSpikes. Take care.

Since I am a firm believer in natural products for natural hair, I asked my consultant if using something other than the SL shampoo was ok. I also have lupus so chemicals are a big concern of mine. She actually uses dr bronners on her clients (she offers shampooing as part of her retightenings) for that reason alone. She has been using it on her traditional locks for 8 years and on her clients for the past 4. Its super concentrated so a little goes a long way. Doesn't leave a residue nor does it make my hair crunchy or scalp flake. Its not gospel though but something to consider.
