Arg!!!!

This dag on build up is really working my nerves. I have tried everything and it just seems to be increasing, I'm at my wits end with it. I'm really about to take down a whole bunch of my lock and colmb them out before I go for my retightening in two weeks. I am sooo blown!!!! I have washed it, I havnt used anything in my hair in forever and the buildup has increased. I just don't get it, I don't know what is causing it. I tried listerine and yeah that did nothing. Yesterday I tried nail poilish remover and that did nothing. Grrrrrrrrrrr...... I hate my hair looking like its dirty and like I've been rolling around in dust and glue. This really ticks me off.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest. My hair otherwise is doing well. It has gotten very thick and my consultants says is has expanded to just about its full thickness in my lock pattern. I have had a tremendous growth spurt which is probably due to the change of the season, who knows. Anywhoo I hope someone can help me with suggestion on how to get rid of this build up because I can't take it.

In other news, I can't believe Michael Jackson is dead, I mean its so sad. Music has never been the same since he left the game and now it will never be the same again. Michael Jackson had such an impact on the world through his music and his action. His music was not about the booty poppin and senseless garbage that most of today's music is about, it had substance and meaning. He will truly be missed. Now in death I hope he finds peace and that the media will finally leave him alone.

do you have sebhorric dermatitis? I have build up as well at first it bothered me but now I just except it as part of the locking process since now all that stuff has no way of escaping during the washing process.mines has slowed done alot by shampooing every week and with a clarifying shampoo but it leaves my locks dry so I really condition alot and use moisturizers.

no I do not have sebhorric drmatitis just build-up from what I read of the symptoms I don't have any that I'm aware of, not even dry scalp thats why I'm so confused as to where its coming from. its just annoying.

hello Kay,

Before you do something as drastic as cutting or taking your locks down, try one of Bonner Brothers Pure Castile soaps. It actually dissolves products from your hair and rinses very well. I have noticed that it actually lifts and loosens old lint from my hair...lint I have been picking at forever to no avail...LOL. I went back to my old shampoo (for conditioning) last week and noticed the milky like build up again so I re-shampooed with BB and now it's gone... The only drawback of BB, for me, is that it (the peppermint one) seems to make my scalp too dry. I've tried the almond once and it seems to do better. Good luck.

The shampoo is by Dr. Bonner's and is available at Target, not Bronner Brothers, that contains harsh chemicals that are not good for your hair. I use to get rid of buildup in addition to ACV (apple cider vinegar) diluted with 3/4 cup of spring or distilled water. It works but rinse it out after applying. You do not want a vinegar smell to your locks. I then apply a leave-in conditioner and seal the moisture with coconut oil. It works so well, no hair loss and great shine.

I wonder what causes the build up? I notice it when I wash my hair. Like I will wash it and then when i look at my parts it doesn't look clean. My scalp still itches a lot... like a couple of days after wash. When my loctician does it everythings perfect.. so I wonder what could I be doing wrong.

I was just reading some of the comments and they mentioned a couple of shampoos. Did your loctician specific a certain shampoo or say that you can use any kind? Mine specified Sisterlock shampoo because it helps the locking process.

yes my consultant told me to stick to just the sisterlock shampoo because it helps with locking and its a clarifying shampoo especially because I am having the build up problem. I did however try the Dr. Bronners peppermint soap to try to get some of the build up out. It didnt work though, I'm sure it will take more than just one wash but I'm gonna stick with just the sisterlock shamoo for another month.

I believe that my build up may be from my washes, maybe I wasnt getting all the some rinsed out of my hair when I washed and also maybe from my face cream because its only around my hairline which makes me believe that, that is what the real problem is.
