thoughts...

Just popping in to say hey. Nothing new is really going on with my hair. I have left it alone for the past couple of days and probably will for the next two weeks or so. I did a lot of manipulation for the past month so I'm going to take it easy. I washed my hair two days ago and even though I banded I still have some slight slippage in the back and on the side near my ear. Not a lot really its more like 5 locks total but it leads me to believe that whether I band or not my hair will slip in those areas because of how soft my hair is.

I used the Listerine thing as a second rinse for my hair because there was some type of build up on my locks near my hairline and along my nape. I'm not sure what it is or what is causing it but it seems to be coming from my scalp maybe? You know when you sweat in your hair and you get that film, that could be what it is and its just sliding up my locks. I don't know it just looks nasty. When I look in the mirror it looks like lint but when you get close you can see that it not lint and that its really in the lock. I have had to really scrape it to get it off and sometimes that wont even do it. It doesn't wash out and I don't like it. Trying to get it out makes me feel like I'm damaging my locks because i really have to dig and pull at it and when I'm done my lock is all fuzzy with spilt ends from me scraping and pulling at it. Needless to say the Listerine did nothing but make my hair smell minty. I'm really anal when it comes to my hair and it being clean and healthy so needless to say this is really driving me crazy.

Anyway the back is starting to fill in and now I'm trying to start wearing my hair without headbands more often so I can train my hair to lay forward in a manner that I like.

How long did it take for your locks to start relaxing and laying down?

Any thoughts on what my buildup may be?

Hi there!

I agree with you... don't leave it looking like that! I don't blame you for being anal about your hair...

I hope someone has some great tips for you.

I wish I did!

The build up could be a mixture of the products you are using as well as your scalp. Try not using any products besides water for a week and see if you have a difference. Do you scratch your hair? Or I shoudl say hand in the hair syndrome try not doing that as well for a week and see if you get positive results.

If that fails you will definitely need to talk with your consultant to go over your regimen what you're using, sleeping on, sleeping with etc.

Sounds like hair bulbs to me. I have the same thing. Those are hairs that would normally fall out and shed. Since you're locking they're staying in place and you can see the bulb that was embedded in your scalp. The only real solution I've seen for this is either dye or black permanent marker...lol.

I was thinking the same thing about the hair follices showing. YOu should check to make sure your retightenings aren't too tight where it is pulling your hair right out.

Try an apple cider vinegar rinse, this is great to get rid of build-up. The smell does not last for very long and it really works!!!

yeah I really dont spritz my hair often it usually is about once a week if that but I have stopped, I always sleep with a satin scarf and I keep it on when i'm in the house and lounging. I have called my consultant so now I'm just waiting on here to get back to me.

@ Sereni-T and Gigglz this may be what it is but I'm not sure it looks more like something stuck in there the a hair root but u may be right. Sigh I just dont like it. I think I will try the acv rinse the next time I washed my hair which will be in about two weeks or so.
