Hey everyone I was so excited today. I was in the computer lab when this young lady walked in with a thick head of locs that immediately caught my eyes. I asked and she happily responded that indeed they were sisterlocks. It was a welcome surprise for both of us as she is the first SL head I've seen in this area. We had a pretty good conversation for about 20 minutes and then I asked if I could take her pic for my blog and she said yes. She has been locked for two years and was lock by a lady in Bowie Maryland. I told her I wouldn't show her face in the pic just to conceal her privacy. In our conversation hair washing came up. Now I wash my hair about every two weeks, she said she only used to wash her hair right before she got each retightening which was about every six weeks. Sadly I have been experiencing a lot of slippage. I don't know if it is due to washing or my spritzing with water and essential oils. What do you guys think, am I washing my hair too often? How often do you wash your hair?

There's a possibility the slippage is being caused from washing every week. Is it possible to try washing every other week? I don't think the spritz is the problem, then again how much spritz are you using per session? If you're lightly spraying to liven up locs I think it's fine but if you're saturating to the point of drippage that may be an issue...
Hey Meikmeika, I wash my hair about once every two weeks, but I'm going to cut back to see if it helps. I mean my scalp doesn't really get the itchies and my hair isn't really dirty after two weeks, I suppose its just habit after two weeks I just start getting a strong uncontrollable urge to wash my hair. When I sprits, its not usually a lot. There have been times when I have really saturated it because it jst would not behave, lol.
your slippage is due to you washing your hair to much. you have been locked for only a month so u shouldnt be spritzing or putting any kind of oils in your hair at least until it settles in which may take 3 mos to a year depending on you r texture. i wash my hair once a month and twice if needed...So stay off the washing and especilly the oils for now.
Nothing to add to the great advice above.
I had slippage in my kitchen for months - and I am not a frequent washer!
Congrats.
Peace,
DL
Good comments ladies. I had the same problem as Kay exquisite. I'll follow all the great advice. Ciao!
Hi,
I think your locs are beautiful. I have been contemplating them for several years and have finally decided to move forward after having natural hair for five years. I am looking for a recommendation in the Maryland Area. I see that you utilized the servies of Claire Green do you know the consultant's name from the woman you saw that was from Bowie, MD as that is closer to my area? Your help would be appreciated.
